The New Zealand Police have a permanent position available for an Intelligence Analyst based within the New Zealand Police Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). The FIU are the recipient of suspicious activity information that is reported to us from the private financial sector. Using this information we contribute to anti-money laundering efforts, the investigation of organised and transnational criminal groups, and the disruption of terrorist financing through supporting investigations by Police, Government agencies, and international law enforcement. FIU services are a response to the functions and powers set out in the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.


As an analyst you will be required to produce intelligence products that enable understanding of the criminal environment as it relates to money laundering, terrorist financing, and transnational crime. As well as using that understanding to support Police disruption of organised and transnational crime, you will engage with partner agencies across government to facilitate investigations into tax evasion, border protection, immigration and benefit fraud.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to develop a high standard of reports/presentations

  • Experience presenting (written and verbal) complex issues clearly to a range of audiences

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Government security clearance
  • A New Zealand Diploma in Intelligence Analysis or equivalent is preferred. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be required to complete this qualification within 15 months of appointment
