The Intelligence Analyst position is responsible for operational and strategic analysis to support a range of dynamic operations and activities.

We are recruiting for entry level, intermediate and senior analysts.

Training, variety, specialisation

This is a role with both variety and opportunities to specialise in. You will receive a range of training along with three structured placements in your initial year of employment.

Training opportunities may be negotiated for intermediate and senior analysts based on existing experience and skills.

As these roles are available in Wellington and Auckland, you may be asked to move between these locations during your employment. Entry level candidates will attend a 6 week training course in Wellington.

  • Existing intelligence training
  • Experience with strategic analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to produce timely outputs, including verbal and written briefings

Key points in our selection process

If shortlisted and progressed through the recruitment process, you may be invited to complete the following activities:

  • Cognitive and psychometric testing
  • An assessment centre
  • An interview

Successful entry level applicants will start in February 2023, and are required to commit to approximately six weeks of initial training in Wellington. The initial training is a pass/fail course and after successfully completing the course you will become employed as a permanent Intelligence Analyst. Prior to each placement in your initial year, you may need to attend specific training modules in Wellington.

This is a multi-level position allowing for career progression in the future.

The starting salary for this position is within the following ranges depending on the successful candidate’s skills, experience and knowledge.

  • Level 1 (entry level): $58,549 – $87,823
  • Level 2 (intermediate): $68,724 – $103,086
  • Level 3 (senior): $79,797 – $119,695

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
