Intelligence Analyst – Operational/Tactical Team New Zealand Customs Service - Auckland

We’re looking for an experienced Intelligence Analyst to join our Operational/Tactical Intelligence team, supporting our work disrupting and dismantling transnational organised crime.

You will be a part of our Intelligence team increasing our capability to engage with both the domestic and international intelligence communities to disrupt the supply chain of illicit goods offshore. You’ll work collaboratively with key national and international stake holders in the intelligence and investigations community.

About you:

  • You are experienced in applying the Intelligence Cycle
  • You have a natural curiosity and talent for finding patterns and anomalies
  • You are experienced working with large data sets and using analytical tools
  • You understand information security principles (classifications, caveats, handling and sharing of information)
  • You’re an experienced report writer who produces high-quality intelligence reporting
  • You’re comfortable giving briefings to all levels
  • You thrive working under pressure

You will be a part of the wider Intelligence, Investigations and Enforcement group, and you will report to the Supervising Customs Officer of the Tactical and Operational Intelligence team.  You will generally work within regular hours. This position is open to applicants from Auckland and Christchurch – the role can be based in either city.

We’re looking for people who care about their team and work well with others – you’re approachable, supportive and willing to help. This is a Senior Customs Officer Grade 1 role, which provides a pathway to diverse Customs career opportunities as you build your experience and skills.

The salary range for this role is approximately $57,700 to $72,000.

Security Requirements

To apply for this position, you must be a NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident.

You will need to obtain Top Secret level national security clearance. To achieve Top Secret clearance, you must have resided in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States continuously for the last 10 years. Already having Top Secret clearance is a benefit, but not a requirement. We’ll guide you through the process.
