The New Zealand Intelligence Community is currently recruiting for Personnel Security Advisor’s to join our team. We have both permanent and fixed term (up to 12 months) opportunities available.

What is a Personnel Security Advisor?  The best explanation is, while our Intelligence Community helps protect the people of New Zealand, you would help protect the Intelligence Community.

You will be part of a small dedicated team with a big role; from discreet one-on-ones with staff to delivering presentations across government agencies. We strive to provide the highest quality personnel security advice and expertise in New Zealand.

Keeping New Zealand and New Zealanders safe is an important job and fortunately, New Zealand has a committed group of people doing this every day.

We are looking for individuals who have an interest in human behaviour and an enquiring mind to join our Wellington-based team. The successful candidate would have:

  • the ability to build effective and productive working relationships
  • excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • the confidence to deliver regular presentations
  • experience working with sensitive information
  • the tenacity to able to deal with being thrown the odd curve ball

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
