Protective Security Engagement Manager NZSIS - Wellington

Closing Date: February 26, 2020

The New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC) is currently recruiting for a Protective Security Engagement Manager in Wellington. You would be part of a small, outgoing and progressive team that is making a tangible contribution to lifting the protective security capability of New Zealand.

As a member of our Protective Security Requirements (PSR) Engagement Team, you will be working with a diverse portfolio of government and private customers, helping them to understand and manage their security risks.  A key mitigation tool is the PSR  Framework (www.protectivesecurity.govt.nz), and knowing where, when and how to access the support we offer.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • The ability to act proactively to influence decision-makers
  • An awareness of, and interest in, current affairs and issues that affect New Zealand on a domestic and international level
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a wide spectrum of customers from a variety of backgrounds
  • Responsiveness to and awareness of customer needs, issues and limitations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

You may already have knowledge or experience working within the security or risk management sectors but this is not a necessity.  Your energy and drive, and proven ability to translate concepts into practical advice are equally important.

The portfolio focus will change from time to time as the PSR grows and the risk environment changes.  This will require you to foster relationships and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships that encourage customers to seek protective security advice. You need to be flexible and adaptable – we also encourage innovation and continuous improvement.

If this sounds like you and you can demonstrate the above requirements, we are keen to hear from you.

As well as interesting work, we also offer a range of benefits including additional leave, professional development, free health insurance and on-site gym facilities. We also promise you will never have to take work home with you!

A position description can be found attached here.
