Closing Date: February 9, 2021

  • The CEOT team deals with confronting information and objectionable material that exploits children. You’ll need resilience and the ability to separate your job from the rest of your life, leaving work at the door when you go home. We have strong support systems in place for our CEOT team.
  • Your office will be based in central Auckland, although you will be out in the field and working in diverse environments, and at times unpredictable hours.
  • We have a Senior Customs Officer Grade 1 position and we’re looking for people who care about their team and work well with others – you’ll be approachable, supportive and willing to help. The salary range for this role is $58,854 – $75,341 plus an annual allowance of $14,271 for working unpredictable hours. Mid-point or competent for the range is $68,253 plus the allowance.

    • Be involved with operational activity out in the field
    • Undertake inquiries, interviewing, and arresting offenders
    • Apply for and execute search warrants
    • Manage evidence, prepare prosecution files to an evidential standard and give evidence in court – this means writing clear and accurate reports, and being a confident public speaker.
  • We’re looking for people who…
    • Are proficient at analysing evidence and navigating the inner workings of the internet
    • Ideally, have an understanding and knowledge of investigations – experience preventing child exploitation
    • Understand related legislation and specialised victim identification functions
    • Have good technical skills – are methodical and dedicated to working to a high standard, and with the utmost discretion
    • Display levelheadedness and sound judgement – and are able to handle sensitive information and situations well, and stay calm and composed in challenging situations.
