Salary: $92,000 – $124,000 dependent on experience

 

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the Role

We are looking for a talented leader to guide and support the development of a team of highly effective intelligence professionals based in Wellington. The Biosecurity Intelligence team is comprised of innovative scientists, social scientists, intelligence analysts and data scientists. Team members work collaboratively, drawing on each of these disciplines to provide robust, threat intelligence. Together with other teams in the Intelligence Group, the BSI team also contribute to the National Security System.

As one of two team leaders within the wider team you will be responsible for leading and coordinating teams developing a forecasting and early warning system for Biosecurity New Zealand.

You will be a key team member who will work closely with the other Team Leader, the Lead Intelligence Analyst, and the overall Team Manager to set the BSI team direction and work programme. You will work closely with the analysts and data scientists to shape and deliver strategic and operational scientific threat intelligence, while engaging across MPI to ensure that the intelligence produced is actionable, fit for purpose and client focussed.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience managing analytical staff
  • Experience in developing and managing positive relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary and inter-agency environments with a proven track record of contributing to high quality outcomes for decision makers
  • Awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi and its principles, and a growing understanding of its relevance to New Zealand and to MPI
