Information Warfare: From Cyber-attacks to Conspiracy Theories
The Next Northern Region Event of 2026 will be a presentation and networking event featuring Wing Commander Caro Pezaro and Squadron Leader Libby Reardon of the NZDF’s Information Warfare Branch.
The event is on Thursday, 22 October at 2pm at Auckland City District Police Headquarters, 13/15 College Hill, Freemans Bay, Auckland. Following the event there will be an opportunity to network at The Cav, 68 College Hill, Freemans Bay, Auckland.
Introduction
New Zealand and its allies face a wide range of strategic threats which seek to undermine digital infrastructure and erode trust in democratic institutions. Strategic competitors use well-funded and highly trained information warfare units to shape the geo-political landscape using social media and increasingly powerful AI tools. Caro and Libby will talk about the NZDF model of current threats, and how we can better protect ourselves from malign influence.
