‘The Power We Hold’ Movie Screening, sponsored by DEFEND

What does leadership look like when it isn’t defined by rank, authority or visibility?

Thanks to the support and sponsorship of DEFEND, the Institute will be hosting special screenings in Wellington and Christchurch of the feature documentary film ‘The Power We Hold: Stories from Women Spies’, an acclaimed documentary exploring the experiences of women who have served across the United States intelligence community. The film moves beyond traditional spy stereotypes to tell deeply personal stories about influence, service, trust and leadership.

Those attending in Christchurch will be able to relax in the beautiful settings of the Bardot Screen at the Lumière Cinema. The location combines state-of the art technology with vintage ambiance, luxurious seating and a focus on service.

For Wellington attendees, the event will be hosted in the Ngā Pou Ruahine, a beautifully designed area of Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui which is dedictated to honouring wāhine. Attendees at this location will have the opportunity to hear firsthand from the producers about the inspiration behind the documentary, the stories that shaped its development and the conversations it is seeking to encourage across the intelligence profession. After the screening there be an opportunity to explore what the themes of the film mean for women in the intelligence profession in Aotearoa New Zealand, including leadership, mentoring, diversity and attracting the next generation of intelligence practitioners.
