A new report has been published which examines the perceived long-term threats to Aotearoa New Zealand’s national security. The research included government agencies, independent members of the public, a variety of ethnic and migrant communities and publicly available data and research from New Zealand and overseas. The result is a document that better informs decision-makers on the concerns of the general public, with one of the key findings being that there was a desire for more discussion about national security threats. The report focuses specifically on the following threats:
- Disinformation
- Hacking and cyberattacks
- Transnational organised crime
- Foreign interference and espionage
- Terrorism and violent extremism
- Pacific resilience challenges
